
PERFORMANCE OF THREE PHASE INDUCTION MOTOR UNDER UNBALANCED SUPPLY

چکیده
Three phase induction motors commonly used in industrial and home environments due to their advantages over other types of motor such as low cost reliability ruggedness and simplicity. It well known that the performance of induction motor is significantly affected with distortion or unbalanced voltage supply. Therefore this paper study the negative influences of unbalance voltage on the operation and performance of three phase induction motors such as speed torque losses efficiency current etc. Matlab Simulink environment used to verify these effects for various values of voltage unbalanced factor (VUF). According to simulation data motor efficiency drops as the voltage imbalance factor increases. Under constant load situations it is demonstrated that the negative sequence current and motor losses increased as the voltage unbalance factor increases. Furthermore the voltage unbalance factor has a negative influence on the electromagnetic torque and motor speed. Operating a motor for length of time with a voltage imbalance greater than 5% is not recommended by the NEMA standard. The motor should be derated to reduce the negative consequences of unbalanced voltage. For example it is suggested that the motor loading level be reduced so that the greatest stator current equals the motor rated current. Another requirement is to minimize motor loading in order to keep the maximum temperature of motor windings within an acceptable range. In this paper we use the power total losses to calculate the derating factor.کليدواژه ها
